Switching Purim Vendors

You heard great things about the "other" Purim vendor and you want to try them out. What should you take into consideration?

History

The biggest loss when switching vendors may be your historical information. Having access to years past (multiple) is nice, but what's most important is last year's data since most primary websites services will give members an option to make or edit the same selections as last year. Note that both Shulcloud and Purim Project offer an option to load Happy Purim data so that you won't miss a beat.

Member Information

Your member information should be the least of your worries since this information should be easily exportable from your website in Excel format and ready for upload to your new vendor. What may be trickier to transfer is your member assignment to categories. Be sure not to lose this information in the transfer and to ask your new vendor how to best handle.

Your Campaign Settings

Your campaign settings will include all your pricing and various other settings. There's hardly a point to export this information as it's easy enough to do it manually. Do make sure, however, that your new vendor supports the settings you need. Shulcloud, for example, has limited pricing features so if you're used to multi-tiered pricing, they probably won't be able to help you with that.

The Member Experience

While you'll have plenty of time to grow accustomed to the new administrator website, understand that your members are expecting a walk-in-the-park experience when it comes to making their selections. The member site does not have to look like it did last year, but it does need to be intuitive (and preferably mobile supported).
